The tree is trimmed, the stockings are hung, and the ginger cake is in the oven. What Plant Paradox friendly thing will be under the tree and in those stockings this year? Use my reader-inspired guide to the best health gifts of 2018, from the most delicious lectin-free foods to the most innovative kitchen gadgets and more. There’s something for everyone on your list!

The best health gifts of 2018--kitchen cookware and utensils, books, health gadgets, and lectin-free food!

Kitchen Gifts

These innovative gadgets and gorgeous appliance were among the best health gifts of 2018.

Anti-Histamine Wine Wands

If you or a friend have been skipping the red wine because it gives you headaches or other side effects, this magic anti-histamine wand is totally a thing. You swirl a single wand around in a glass of red wine for as little as 3 minutes, and it removes the histamines and sulfite preservatives that are responsible for most unpleasant “wine effects.”

Convection Air Fryer

While the Instant Pot is a classic lectin-free kitchen essential, the air fryer is the hottest (pun intended) kitchen gadget of 2018. This gorgeous countertop convection oven makes perfectly crispy sweet potato fries, breaded chicken, cauliflower bites, breaded fish, and more using no grease. Both beginners to a healthy lifestyle and veterans alike have raved about the versatility of this splurge-worthy piece.

Spiralizer

Turn any Plant Paradox-approved root vegetable into noodles with this counter-mounted 3-blade veggie spiralizer. Make sweet potato, daikon radish, or beet noodles with a creamy alfredo sauce. Or, toss them into your favorite salad or soup. Comes with 3 stainless steel blades to achieve different sizes and chops.

Health & Wellness Gifts

The best health and wellness gifts of 2018 to aid you and your friends and family on your healing journeys.

Fun with DNA

At least in my household, the 23andMe Ancestry kits were the hottest gift of 2017. This year, the field of epigenetics is more popular than ever. You, a friend, or a family member can download the raw data report from an Ancestral test kit and submit it to an analyzer like Strategene or SelfDecode to dig for genetic answers behind traits and symptoms. DNA testing unlocks the new and exciting world of “living for your phenotype.”

Light Therapy

Beat the winter blues with this energy lamp that brings portable sunshine to dark days. Your friends in cold climates can keep this lamp on their desk or nightstand for some light therapy a few times a week. Small and compact, it will brighten any dark corner with natural spectrum light. Want the full recommended light intensity? I have this model in my living room and use it daily!

Air Plants

Since these plants have the ability to live without soil, amethyst, rose, and crystal healing stones serve as plant pots in this stylish gift kit. Your best friend can keep these positive mini planters around for good energy vibes this winter, and only needs to mist the plants once a week.

Food & Drink Gifts

Edible (or sippable) gifts that will not disappoint. Give friends and family the best taste of your lectin-free lifestyle with 2018’s most delicious food finds.

Roasted Pecan Butter

Trust me when I say this pecan butter is unlike any nut butter you’ve ever tried. This “heaven in a jar” is two ingredients: roasted pecans and sea salt. Try a spoonful on your morning vanilla mug muffin, use as dip for lectin-free snacks, or do what most of my readers do: grab a spoon and eat it straight from the jar (one spoonful–pace yourselves!)

Cold Brew Concentrate

This gift is for friends who like their dose of polyphenols every morning. One cup of this organic cold brew and they’ll never want to brew coffee in a pot again. Cold brew concentrate is 67% less acidic than traditional coffee, and it’s the smoothest tasting coffee I’ve had. Add coconut milk and warm it up for a cozy latte, or add ice for a refreshing iced coffee. Every bottle makes 16 cups of coffee.

Homemade

These beloved vintage Mason jar mugs with chalkboard labels are great for gifting. They’re practical, yet elegant enough for your friends to display on their counter. If you’re wrapping one up as a gift, fill it with this homemade 3-ingredient hot cocoa mix:

Instructions for 1 cup of hot chocolate: Add 2 tablespoons of dry mix to 2 tablespoons boiling water and stir to dissolve sweetener.  Add 3/4 cup heated milk of choice, stir, and enjoy!

Book Gifts

Books always make great gifts. Check out some of the most popular health books of 2018.

Dr. Gundry’s Cookbook

Fans of the best-selling book The Plant Paradox will be excited to receive The Plant Paradox cookbook. It features dozens of recipes from Dr. Steven Gundry, as well as some from featured chefs, readers, and bloggers. The book has an informative summary of the theory behind The Plant Paradox protocol and is beautifully photographed and styled. With recipes in all categories, the book is a go-to lectin-free kitchen staple.

Dirty Genes

All about how our diet, lifestyle, and environment interact with our genes, this book explains how we’re not automatically doomed to disorders that run in our family (or impeccable good health, for that matter). Aside from being chock-full of tips and tricks for how to make the most of the genes we have, it carries tons of resources for genetic and environmental health.

Genius Foods

If you’re looking to subtly tell a friend that he’s not a genius, gift him this book about foods that will make him one. From avocados to wild salmon, Max Lugavere shares how the nutrients from the food we eat (or don’t eat) can boost memory, brighten our mood, and prevent dementia.

I want the tortilla press!!! Thanks for the list, Mama! What a bunch of great ideas! The chocolate is also a great idea. Perhaps with a nice bottle of Cabernet? That could be #11…..lol

I really love that tortilla press–it’s the one I use. I can’t believe how dramatically reduced cooking time is when you don’t have to roll out the dough! And, yes, a bottle of cabernet is a given! 😉

The tortilla press was on last year-s gift guide, which was unfortunately the same URL, so sorry for the confusion! The tortilla press I recommend is in this post for cassava flour tortillas:https://lectinfreemama.com/2017/09/14/cassava-tortillas/

FANTASTIC ideas! and thanks for sharing where to purchase. You are fun.
Just wondering, have you done the Keto version of Gundry’s diet? and have you met someone who’s gotten rid of their osteoarthritis pain with it?
Also, have you researched collagen sources that are free of nasties
    ??
bless you for any help /answers.

I tried the keto, but not for long enough to make a difference for me. My body personally does not do well eating mostly fat without a lot of protein and a balance of carbohydrates. I feel much better on the regular PP diet. Dr. G recommends marine collagen. I don’t use it, but you should check it out!

Might I also suggest gift cards to clothing stores as most people on this diet lose (or gain! depending on their goal) weight and need a new wardrobe!
